Family Fun Night (ffn)

FFN's are designed to engage with families in the community, providing a time of screen-free fun and interaction.  FFN's are reservation only and limited to approximately 12 families.  This allows the event to be personalized and display care and value for each family.

FFN's are every other month, on the 1st Saturday of the month.

Sunday Celebrations

Gatherings designed to provide a time and space for the community to identify and celebrate the good things that are happening.  In our lives and our neighborhood.  Always directing the gratitude to God. Celebration, community building & discipleship are key components.

When folks come for the 1st time, they are considered guests, and will be served a sit-down meal.  After the 1st visit, folks are eligible to serve.  Ways to serve include preparing the meal, presentation prep, and of coarse serving dinner.

Celebrations happen on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month at 5pm.

friends of froebel

Froebel Elementary School is located across the street from The Melvin Theater Community Center.  We are the faith-based partner with Froebel Elementary.

We provide support for the administration, teachers, and staff of the school.  Examples of what we do are: provide people to help with beginning of the year room changes and set up, prepare and serve breakfast for the 1st day back for teachers, and provide gift cards for teacher/staff appreciation.

We also have an opportunity to create and run a reading program in which volunteers come to the school to read with the students.

Community cookouts

Neighborhood cookout with food, music & activities to engage the community and build relationships within the neighborhood.

Typically the 2nd Saturday of each month.

Prayer walks

Each month we do a prayer walk.  During our Prayer Walk we engage individuals, and we visit and pray for significant places in the community.  We may go to the home of a small business owner, a senior living facility, a school, or a city recreation center.

Urban young life-

carnahan middle school

Nearby, at Carnahan Middle School, we host a weekly after-school club.  This is a character building focused club.  Since we meet at school, this is not a faith-focused program.

At least one lunch period a week, we are able to spend time with students.  Playing cards, chess or talking with a focus on building relationships.

Once a month we will begin to offer a Carnahan Young Life event at the Melvin Theater.  This event will be on Friday nights.  During this time, we will be able to share Jesus with students.

melvin theater facility development

If you are a licensed electrician, plumber or carpenter; or a handyman, the Melvin Theater could use your help with development of the facility.
