physical

Often the things we eat and drink or our personal patterns decrease the physical health we would otherwise enjoy.  These negative impacts often happen slowly, so we don't notice them.  Relatively small improvements can bring dramatic effects in how we feel and function.

generosity

Scripture tells us that God uses the measure of generosity we establish in our own lives as he gives back to us.  When we live in patterns of generosity we experience an open and generous heaven over our lives.  Jesus warns us to "watch out for all forms of greed".  Things and money are sneaky and have a way of getting ahold of our hearts.  It is subtle, progressive, and continual.  It takes active generosity to keep greed and selfishness at bay in our lives.

Commit to 1 or more changes to your discipline of giving for the month of September.

  • Tithing is the practice of giving a predetermined amount or percentage (Biblical tithe is 10%).

If tithing is out of reach, pick a percentage you can meet and begin to do it in joy and in faith.  This will birth in you a growing desire to be generous and a growing capacity to carry it out.

  • If you already practice tithing, These kinds of offerings express and grow a devotion to God in a very practical way.  Matthew 6:21 says where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  • Giving fosters joy and a sense of abundance.  Giving enables us to be conduits of God's blessing.  This can be invigorating and keeps the mission of God forefront in our daily life.
